Week 8/9

I'm so excited, class will be over next Monday. I didn't know how demanding an online class could be but, it was fun. I've just started working on my proposal and i should be done by the weekend. To the instructor and all of my Eng-195 class mates,Good luck and be safe during the holidays ;)

chapter 7 Assignment

I am working on the Focus on Writing Part of the assignment. Right now i am browsing the list of website that we were given and I have yet to find a copy-right free image. Am i the only one????????

Week 7

I once thought that people who job was to on their butts all day and play with a computer (web designers, etc...) had it made. Man was i wrong. As we have learned thus far, there are many things that technical communicators have to consider when writing or creating anything. They have to pay attention to the smallest things. For example copyright and privacy. Just the other week our assignment was to publish a web page.I don't know about ya'll but i found some pictures on the Internet that i thought would be good to use on my page but, what i forgot to consider was copyrighting and privacy. These are some of the simplest things to forget when you are "on a mission" to complete your work. As i began reading the chapter my heart beats started to speed up a little bit and to be quite honest, i felt bad because i didn't consider these facts when i was creating my web page. After i read the chapter i got kind of scared because for one, i don't know if the pictures that i used were copyright -free and for two, i don't need anybody trying to sue me for some pictures that i used for school. To all of the web designers, text book designers, technical communicators, etc........., I must give you your props because you have a hard job and i know i couldn't do it.

Week 6

In this week's chapter we are learning about ethics. You may be faced with situations on your job were you may be forced to make some decisions that go against your code of ethics. It's alright to go against the groups decision and do what's right, but you must be prepared to face the consequences.

Week 5

In this chapter, I am learning how to design and use a website for means of technical communication. In this chapter you learn helpful tips like how to begin setting up your website and the appropriate format to use when you begin placing information on the web page. You basically learn the do's and don'ts of web design. It's very interesting to learn how much work is put into making and designing a website.

Week 4

This week in chapter 4 we are learning how to begin gathering information for whatever topic of technical communication we are researching. This chapter discusses the different types of sources that can be used to gather the information you need to conduct a research.

Week 3

This week we are in chapter 3. This chapter teaches you how to begin writing your document. It tells you what style of grammar to use and when to use it. This chapter also discusses the correct punctuation to use. Reading this chapter was like having a crash course in 5th grade English, which was a subject that i wasn't too fund of.

Week 2

This week we are in chapter 2. After reading this chapter, I've learned the Important things that you should consider when preparing a technical communication product. First step is to analyze your audience. when analyzing your audience you will need to ask yourself who will i be presenting this information to, what are their views on this subject you are presenting. The next step is to analyze the communication purpose. This means think about the purpose of the message; why is it so important, why is the product needed, and what will the users do with the information that you will present. The last step is to analyze the communication context. You do this when you consider how the information will be used.
